Description
Zuni bear fetishes represent healing and strength. Zuni artist Kenric Laiwakete made this wonderful bear fetish. The bear carving is made out of Labradorite with a Turquoise heartline. Labradorite is a member of the Feldspar family and is treasured for its remarkable play of color, known as labradorescence. This luminous specimen is filled with hues of blues and greys. Labradorite also has natural fracturing, giving it beauty and character in the stone. It also changes in different lighting and at different angles. (We take photos in a well lit room). The Fluorite has natural fracturing, giving it beauty and character in the stone. Signed

Zuni fetishes are carvings made from various materials by the Zuni people. Traditionally, fetishes served a ceremonial purpose for their creators and they represented animals and figures that were part of their culture. Today, as a form of Native American Art, they are sold to collectors worldwide. With a myriad of materials like turquoise, shell, jet, marble, serpentine, and much more, Zuni fetish carvers are able to create carvings in a style of their own.
