Navajo artist Lawrence Jacquez made these exquisite Twin Warriors, Born for Water and Monster Slayer.  His carvings always feature incredible detail, and these ones are no exception.  Lawrence was born in 1965, and is from the Nageezi area of the Navajo reservation.  He is known for his unusual sculptural renderings of Navajo sand paintings.  A great addition to your Native American art collection.  Signed

The Hero Twins tells the story of two brothers born to Changing Woman and Sun Bearer, and trained by the Holy People to save their people from the naayéé’, a race of monsters. But the naayéé’ can’t be beaten alone. Family and friends and wise mentors must lead any warrior down the good path toward victory.

In recent years, wood figurines hand carved by self-taught Navajo artists have developed into Navajo Folk Art.  These carvings of traditional personal images and indigenous animals are characteristic of the cultural integrity on the Navajo people.  Strong cultural values provide for and sustain the artistic traditions of the Navajo.
