Zuni bear fetishes represent healing and strength. Zuni artist Kenric Laiwakete hand crafted this outstanding bear fetish. The bear carving is made out of Fluorite and has an inlaid Turquoise heartline. The Fluorite has natural fracturing, giving it beauty and character in the stone. Traditionally, fetishes served a ceremonial purpose for their creators and they represented animals and figures that were part of their culture. With a myriad of materials like turquoise, shell, jet, marble, serpentine, and much more, Zuni fetish carvers are able to create carvings in a style of their own.
