IRENE & KEN WHITE NAVAJO POTTERY WEDDING VASE

Return to Previous Page
Description

Description

Navajo potters Irene and Ken White created this exquisite pottery wedding vase.  Yei bi cheis, corn, and geometric designs are etched and painted.   When traditional Navajo pottery was used for water storage it was covered with a pinon pitch to waterproof it.  Thus, you see the distinctive gloss varnish.  Certain shapes of pottery are covered with a piece of deer hide and used by medicine men as drums in various healing ceremonies.  Signed
