Description

Description

Navajo sand painting artist, Wilton Lee made this marvelous sand painting depicting Father Sky.  Wonderful colors!  Sand paintings are made mainly out of naturally colored sand, that comes from rocks that are crushed.  Each color represents a direction and a time of day;  Blue- South and Midday Sky, Black-North and Night, Yellow-West and Evening Twilight, White-East and Dawn.

with Frame 7  1/8” x 7  1/8” x 3/4″

Navajo people believe that the universe to be delicately balanced.  Only man can upset it, causing disaster and/or illness.  When this happens, a medicine mane must restore the natural balance.  Balance is restored in the universe by healing the offender with chants, herbs, prayers, songs, and sand paintings.
